Gibson Complex and Field

This 32.64-acre community park features 2 lighted football fields, with a concessions building, a multi-use field, restrooms, and a gymnasium with basketball and pickleball courts.  The gymnasium serves year-round as a site for youth and adult activities, leagues, and programs.

The Gibson Complex was the location of the first Black school acknowledged by the School Board in Brevard County in 1915. The brick building still located at the Gibson Complex was built in 1956, which at the time was the Andrew Gibson Elementary and High School for Negroes. It had a library, a gym, home economics suite, science labs, auditorium, an industrial arts department, a music room and cafeteria, but remained segregated. Gibson Elementary’s final year was in 1968, when it transitioned into a community center to continue serving the community.
