Welcome to the Brevard County Public Library Youth Services Department!
Read Your Way to K Playdates Starting Fall 2024
We invite babies, young toddlers and their caregivers to join us for an hour of stories, songs and games. As they begin the journey towards kindergarten, reading and storytelling allow babies to discover speech patterns, new words and language. The first five years of a child's life is a period of major brain growth! Our fun and informal program is designed to enhance and discover literacy skills through age-appropriate play. We'll read, sing, do fingerplays, and get an opportunity to play and socialize with other families!
The in-person program will be supplemented by a Beanstack challenge . Caregivers and children can read together at home or on the go, log the number of books they read together in Beanstack, and visit one of our libraries along the way to receive a sticker for every 100 books they read!
Patrons can choose the books they read- if you want to read the same book 1,000 times, you totally can! You can choose to participate however it works best for you- check out one of our playdates and start logging books today!
Search our catalog or visit Overdrive for a favorite new read, and our YouTube channel for virtual programs. Be sure to visit all of our branches to explore their unique offerings including STEM and activity kits (at participating locations).
Visit our event calendar to find your next library program From story times to STEAM programs, we offer a wide variety of activities and resources to support early literacy and lifelong learning.
