Welcome to the Brevard County Libraries Summer Reading Program!  Our 17 locations offer a wide variety of activities to keep you and your family reading all summer long.

Here’s how it works!

This summer, from June 1 to July 27, we are tracking our summer reading challenge with Beanstack.

Sign up for your Beanstack Account  and download the Beanstack Tracker app.

Track the time you spend reading! This can be time spent reading independently, being read to, or listening to an audiobook. Stop by your local library starting June 1st to pick up a summer reading folder with more information about library events.

When you track your reading using Beanstack, you will receive a digital badge for each reading milestone reached. Each time you earn a badge you can visit your local library to pick up a Brag Tag.

Read all summer to collect all 10 Brag Tags!

All readers ages 0-18 who earn at least one badge this summer will be entered to win our grand prizes- Adventure Kits donated by the Eau Gallie Rotary Club.

The Prizes

Prizes include a tote bag, water bottle, and beach blanket.
Adventure Kit Prize Bags contain water bottle and beach blanket.

Read and Ride with Space Coast Area Transit

Heading to the beach? Movies? Library?

Youth ages 18 or under can ride Space Coast Area Transit for free all summer long with your library card! The Read and Ride program begins May 25th and runs until August 11th. Stop by any Brevard County Libraries locations to register for a library card. Parent or guardian must be present. Visit our Library Cards page to find out more about how to register.

Adult Summer Reading BINGO

Summer reading isn’t just for kids! Join in the fun! Adult summer reading BINGO will be available at all Brevard County Libraries locations. Stop by your nearest library location to pick up your BINGO card starting June 1st.

Adults are also welcome to join in our Beanstack reading challenge .

Summer reading BINGO will take you on an adventure through different book genres, events, and virtual offerings like Libby. For more details see your local library.

Library Ducks

Are you going on an adventure this summer? Don’t forget your Library Duck! Take them with you on your trips, to the beach, to the park, or any adventure you can think up!

Kids are invited to stop by the Youth Services Department of their library to pick up a rubber Library Duck to take on adventures throughout the summer.

Astro Duck

Adults are invited to stop by the Reference Department of their library to pick up Astro Duck! Astro Duck is our new summer reading mascot. Don’t go alone! Take a duck with you!

Take your ducks with you on all of your summer adventures. Be sure to share photos of your adventures using the hashtags #LibraryDucks, #AstroDuck, and #BrevardLibraries on social media.

Book Recommendations

Sunshine State and Florida Teen Reads Books for Summer 2024

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program  is a statewide reading motivational program for students in grades K through 8. It encourages students to read independently for pleasure and is meant to help to improve their reading fluency. Sunshine State books are selected annually for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.

Florida Teen Reads

Florida Teens Reads  is designed to entice teens in grades 9 through 12 to read. In order to spark their interest and to provide a spur to critical thinking, the book selections engage high school students by reflecting their interests as well as representing a variety of genres, formats, reading levels, viewpoints, and ethnic and cultural perspectives.
