Does a Handyman Need a License in Brevard County?

Brevard County Code Of Ordinance and State Law requires construction work, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, roofing, etc. including remodeling, renovations & repairs be done by a licensed contractor.

Handyman may ONLY perform unregulated specialty trades.

PLEASE NOTE: there is no such thing as a Handyman License in Brevard County

Unregulated Specialty Trades that do not require a Certificate of Competency License (COC):

  • Cabinetry / Countertops
  • Concrete
  • Decorative Hardscape (Landscape Curbing, Countertops)
  • Drywall Repair (Patch holes)
  • Fascia / Soffit / Siding
  • Finish Trim Carpentry (paneling, sashes, baseboards)
  • Floor Covering/ Floor Covering with Tile
  • Framing / Carpentry
  • Landscaping / Yard Care (No irrigation or sprinkler, as it requires the COC)
  • Insulation
  • Interior doors (Bathroom, Bedroom, Closet – No exterior doors, as it requires the COC)
  • Masonry
  • Non-aluminum and vinyl fence erectors. This shall include, but not be limited to, fence erectors of wood fencing
  • Painting
  • Pavers
  • Pressure Washing / Cleaning
  • Screening Repair (No hardware maintenance, repair, or replacement)
  • Stucco
  • Wallcovering / Wallpaper
