Smoke Alarm Tips
- Have working smoke alarms in every bedroom. Be sure to have smoke alarms outside each sleeping area and on every level of your home.
- Test all smoke alarms at least once a month. There is a test button on each smoke alarm that will beep if it is working properly.
- In older smoke alarm models, replace batteries twice a year.
- Smoke alarms need to be replaced every ten years.
- If your smoke alarm is beeping randomly, it is most likely not broken, but needs new batteries. Make sure to always have batteries available.
- Sleep with your bedroom doors closed.
- Always take the sound of a smoke alarm seriously! When you hear the smoke alarm, evacuate!
