Hurricane Season

Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, and Brevard County Emergency Management wants to remind our residents about the 5 steps to preparedness:

Step 1: Know Your Risk

Questions to ask yourself when assessing your risk:

  • Do you live in a mobile or manufactured home?
  • Do you live in an evacuation area?
  • Do you live in a flood-prone area?
  • Are you water or electricity dependent? Do you have special needs?

Step 2: Build A Kit

A full list of supplies for your kit, can be found at our Brevard County Emergency Management website.

Step 3: Have A Plan

Questions to ask yourself when making a plan:

  • What factors will make me evacuate?
  • Where will I go if I need to leave?
  • How far will I travel if I leave?
  • When will I leave to ensure my safety?
  • Who is coming with me if I evacuate?

Step 4: Stay Informed

Step 5: Get Involved

Talk to your neighbors so that they know their risks and encourage them to be prepared. Building a culture of preparedness is one way to make Brevard a more resilient community.
