Hurricane Season
Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, and Brevard County Emergency Management wants to remind our residents about the 5 steps to preparedness:
Step 1: Know Your Risk
Questions to ask yourself when assessing your risk:
- Do you live in a mobile or manufactured home?
- Do you live in an evacuation area?
- Do you live in a flood-prone area?
- Are you water or electricity dependent? Do you have special needs?
Step 2: Build A Kit
A full list of supplies for your kit, can be found at our Brevard County Emergency Management website.
Step 3: Have A Plan
Questions to ask yourself when making a plan:
- What factors will make me evacuate?
- Where will I go if I need to leave?
- How far will I travel if I leave?
- When will I leave to ensure my safety?
- Who is coming with me if I evacuate?
Step 4: Stay Informed

Step 5: Get Involved
Talk to your neighbors so that they know their risks and encourage them to be prepared. Building a culture of preparedness is one way to make Brevard a more resilient community.
