Brevard County Commission District 2

District 2 contains the towns of Merritt Island, Cocoa , Rockledge , Cape Canaveral  and Cocoa Beach .

Notable named places are: Banana River, John F. Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Patrick Air Force Base, Sykes Creek and the Indian River.

 

Commissioner Tom Goodson

Commissioner Tom Goodson (Vice Chair)

Tom Goodson was born in Marianna, Florida in 1951. He moved with his family to Brevard in 1958 and has lived here ever since.

Tom has been married for 48 years to a retired career long elementary school teacher. He has two adult children and four grandchildren.

Tom is a legendarily hard worker, a trait that he first developed as a young man putting himself through college. After graduating from Florida State University, and marrying his wife, they both returned to Brevard County to build their lives and family together. In 1988, Tom created his own business, Goodson Paving. Today, Goodson Paving, and its associated companies, are successful entities, contributing to the creation of jobs in the community, and a generous contributor to many worthwhile causes and projects in the community.

Tom was first elected to the Canaveral Port Authority's board in 2002 until his election to the Florida House in 2010. Tom went on to serve as a State Representative to District 51 from 2012-2016 (after redistricting) and served his final term in District 50 until 2018. He was recently elected to the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners in November 2022.
