BREVARD COUNTY, FL. –We are excited for Roots to Work, a hands-on training initiative designed for young adults (ages 18 and older) with special needs who are eager to develop workplace skills in horticulture and agriculture.
This 10-week program, beginning January 9, 2026, offers participants a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on horticulture experience, and field trips that connect lessons to real-world agricultural practices. Participants who complete the course may also have the opportunity to apprentice at a local nursery, gaining valuable job experience and mentorship.
Program Highlights:
“Roots to Work helps young adults gain not just horticulture knowledge, but also confidence, teamwork experience, and job-readiness skills that support independence,”
The program will take place in person at the UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension, 3695 Lake Dr., Cocoa, FL 32926.
