BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – Do you know if your blood pressure is in a healthy range? Knowing what your blood pressure is, and what your numbers mean for you, is an important part of maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle. However, Brevard County Libraries recognizes that not everyone can make it to the doctor’s office as often as they would like. Which is why they have partnered with the American Heart Association to initiate a “Libraries with Heart” program. This program allows Brevard County Libraries to meet our citizens where they are by offering Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure Kits.
Brevard County residents can check out a blood pressure monitoring kit from select library branches for free with their library card. Each kit contains a blood pressure monitor, an arm cuff (available in two sizes), an informational packet (in English & en español), and a log to track your readings. Once they are able to visit a doctor’s office, residents can use the log to discuss their blood pressure readings with a healthcare provider.
These Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure Kits are a welcome addition to the Library of Things collection provided at Brevard County Libraries. They are available to check out for up to 3 weeks at the following branch locations:
