Brevard County Welcomes Citizen Input Through 'Speak Up Brevard'

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – Brevard County Government provides opportunities for public input through various platforms throughout the year, including the annual Speak Up Brevard initiative that runs Jan. 1-31, 2025. This program invites residents to submit ideas and recommendations aimed at improving County efficiency and effectiveness.

Speak Up Brevard, as designed in the County’s Home Rule Charter and through Board Policy, aligns with the County’s transparency efforts to support open government and welcomes community input. Recommendations from the public are reviewed by County staff and presented to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration.

Residents can submit recommendations online via Speak Up Brevard website.

Here’s how the process works:

  • Submission Deadline: All recommendations for the current cycle must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2025.
  • Evaluation Period: The County Manager’s Office reviews submissions and provides comments to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Commission Review: Recommendations are forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners, which will vote to approve, reject, or revise each proposal.
  • Notification: Submitters will receive at least one week’s notice prior to their recommendation being reviewed by the Board. Submitters may present at the meeting under this agenda item.
  • Transparency: A public listing of all recommendations and their outcomes will be available on the County's Speak Up Brevard website.

Beyond Speak Up Brevard, residents are encouraged to participate in their government throughout the year:

  • Online Feedback: Visit www.brevardfl.gov under the e-Government tab to share input on the County budget, transit services, and other topics, or to provide feedback on Parks and Preserves, Public Safety, the Sheriff’s Office, and more.
  • Public Comments: Attend Board of County Commissioners meetings to voice concerns or ideas directly during non-agenda public comments.
  • Connect with Commissioners: Contact your District Commission office to discuss specific issues or propose potential agenda items.

Brevard County remains committed to engaging with residents and ensuring their voices are heard in decisions that shape the community.
