The Survey Section is made up of four interdepartmental sections:
- Conventional Surveying & Mapping
- Easements & Rights-of-Ways (Vacatings)
- Map Reproduction
- GPS Surveying
- Vertical Control Information
The Surveying section provides land surveying services and support to all County agencies. Some of the services are boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, construction layouts, as built surveys and right-of-way surveys.
The Survey section also prepares legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition, easements and voting precincts.
The Brevard County Surveying & Mapping Department does not survey private lands, but only those lands owned by the public and/or land being acquired for public use.
The Survey section is also a reviewing agency for Site Plans and Final Subdivision Plat Approvals. Effective May 5, 2003 Modified Surveyors Certificate for Final Plats.
Proposed subdivision ordinance Section 62-2841 Application for Final Plat Reviews and Approval. The Survey section provides information to the general public in the form of Benchmark Data, Certified Corner Reports (CCR) for Section Corners, Government Field Notes, Township Plats, Erosion Control Line Maps, Coastal Control Line Maps and GPS Control Network Data.
The Map Reproduction section provides information to the General Public and County Agencies in the form of Subdivision Plats, Aerials (from 1943 to 1996), Survey Books, Sheriff Index Maps, Property Appraiser's Tax Maps (1970 +/-), Erosion Control Line Maps and Coastal Construction Control Line Maps.
